As Christians, our faith is not based on our imagination or our concepts, but on the Word of God. It is therefore of the utmost importance that we know what the Word of God tells us. As we read the Bible regularly, we will over time read the Bible in its entirety and gain a basic knowledge of God and the things of God. This basic knowledge is like learning the alphabet. If we do not learn the letters of the alphabet, it will be impossible for us to read or write. Before we can understand the simplest book or write a letter, we must learn the alphabet.

Knowing the facts told in the Bible is like knowing our spiritual alphabet. Familiarize ourselves with the words, deeds, stories, and expressions in the Bible form in us the basic components the Lord can use to show us more of the truth in His Word. This helps us get to know Him in a deeper way and allows Him to speak to us more and more in His Word.
