In this naked news roundup, we have got some stories on naked beach controversy, states that haven't legalized public breastfeeding, and why some individuals can not stand to see happy, fat folks.
Naturism
- One of the greatest means for a naturist company to succeed will be to rank #1 among all similar local businesses, both bare and textile. The clothes-optional Clover Spa & Hotel was ranked as the best hotel in Birmingham, UK on Trivago (hotel comparison site). [Birmingham Mail]
- A look at trekking nude and soaking in clothes-optional hot springs on Orient Land Trust in Colorado. [Active Naturists]

- An unofficial nude beach in South Okanagan, Canada called Three Mile Beach may lose its clothing-optional status because of complaints from nearby residents new to the area. The playa itself is on public property and has been clothes-optional for over 50 years. Local naturists say that residents understood about the unclothed beach before buying property next to it. Of course the opponents have been making claims of lewd / sexual conduct on the strand. There's an online petition to save the strand, now at 843 signatures and desiring at least 1,000. It's not comprehensive or well-written, but it is a good idea to sign and show support! (Even if you don't live in the area.)
Naked Stories
- Last week, a Boy Scout leader in San Diego took his troop on a hike that went through a nude beach called Black's Beach. This was all over the news with lots of play created by one disturbed parent. You would believe the kids were exposed to nuclear waste, as opposed to just the sight of naked bodies. Aside from what actually occurred, it seems quite clear that no children were harmed by any nude people.
- Florida legislature accidentally made it legal for teenagers to send each other naked pictures. This really is likely temporary, but it's not necessarily clear why this needs to be prohibited to start with. [ https://s3.amazonaws.com/ola-naturist/russian-nude-beach.html ]
- Breastfeeding in public should already be legal everywhere in the U.Sbut it's not! Virginia simply passed a law to allow it to be legal. Now it's South Dakota and Idaho's move, both remaining states where the law will not protect public breastfeeding.
- Chelsea Handler has become a genuine spokesperson for topfree equality. "I do not understand why nipples are nudity," she said in an Elle interview. But she also made some debatable remarks, like "Yes, no one should show their vagina." Get it collectively. [ nudism pics ]
Body Image
- Plus-size model and body-positive activist Tess Munster recently became the first model of her size (22) to sign with a major agency. [https:/s3.amazonaws.com/last-naturist/public-nudism.html https:/s3.amazonaws.com/last-naturist/public-nudism.html] is amazing news. A few years ago, Tess started the campaign / hashtag #effyourbeautystandards to encourage others to accept and see themselves as beautiful at any size.
- Some people can not stand the fact that Tess is a fat, joyful fashion model. Her place in the spotlight has draw in its fair share of hateful remarks, judgment and criticism. Jes at the Militant Baker examines why folks seem to despise happy, fat people so much. One of several great points: "Folks who love their bodies don't attempt to purposefully make other people despise their own."
- Bryn Mawr University determined it was not doing enough fat shaming of its "fat" students (based on BMI), so they emailed them all and invited them to enter a weight loss program. The pupils instantly got the college recognize their error. [CBS News]

Censorship
- A Brief History Of Art Censorship From 1508 To 2014. Funny how we're still censoring art for the same reasons today. [HuffPost]
Art
- THEMUSEUM in Ontario, Canada, could have a new display called "Getting Naked," opening on March 7. They'll be showcasing about a hundred nude works of art from contemporary artists. The museum's CEO David Marskell says, "This is a rare chance to not only see these incredible works of art, but also have a dialogue about why Canadian culture shy's away from nudity." (Related: Read about stats from a poll estimating how many Canadians actually do get naked.) [570 News]
Watch
Now, we get to hear from guys! Let us not forget that people of genders confront body image problems.
Oldie but Goodie
- An amazing body-positive mom talks about how social nudity (in this case, at a Korean spa) opens one's eyes to how varied people's bodies actually are. The only problem is her use of the word "nudist," since a Korean spa just isn't actually a naturist club. [HuffPost]
