"Felon" is another film about the hard life of unjustly condemned US citizens imprisoned in infamous prisons. Ric Roman Waugh, screenwriter and director, through a simple story, introduced us to the specifics of the high security regiments. He characterized convicts and guards wielding undivided power in this isolated world. There have already been many similar films, the genre of the genre is definitely "Brubaker Prison", and the latest bastion deserves the attention of "The Last Bastion", and what is interesting, Robert Redford plays the lead role.
A ballad about a clever Warsaw cashier
The screenplay of the movie "Felon" is certainly not brilliant, because a lot has been said in this genre, but it is interesting and at times surprising. Wade Porter (Stephen Dorff) is a man almost fulfilled. He has just received a loan to develop his own business, he has a wonderful woman who will soon be his wife (Marisol Nichols) and a few-year-old son. Unfortunately, someone breaks into their house one night and Porter defends the escaping striker in defense of the family. Unfortunately, the burglar dies, and Wade is sentenced to three years in prison for unintentional death. The episode taking place on the bus carrying the convicts drastically changes his situation and makes Wade go to the high-security unit under the absolute rule of Lieutenant Jackson (Harold Perrineau). Ric Roman Waugh focused his attention on three issues: the internal racial division of the prisoners, the omnipotence of the guards, and Wade's relationship with John Smith (Val Kilmer), condemned to life in a multiple killer. None of these threads brings anything new to the film's hitherto achievements. Even a vengeful murderer who changes in prison is a motif repeated many times. However, skilfully intertwined threads give a good effect that arouses interest. Actorsko film very well. Val Kilmer, unfortunately, does not look like it used to be anymore and certainly it is not a better image, but it suits perfectly for this role and can not be faulted.
A good change
Stephen Dorff was really good and it is noteworthy that no one duplicated him in the scenes of fights, and the actor practiced them with such enthusiasm that he suffered concussions twice. A very positive impression on me was the creation of Johnny Lewis, who as an Aryan skinhead really did well.
A bit of optimism for Christmas
The film is interesting, it does not get boring, it does not get long and although it is not an original production, good acting and skilfully written script make it worth watching.
