To make a bed in Minecraft, you'll need three pieces of wool, and three planks. All three pieces must be the same colour, which will also be your bed's color. - You can get wool by shearing sheep, and planks by putting logs on your crafting table.

A bed should be a part of every Minecraft survivalist's inventory. A bed allows you to skip the entire night. Additionally, it resets your point of spawn and keeps Phantoms away.

These are easy to make, but you will need to hunt for crafting ingredients. Here are the ingredients you will need.

How to make Minecraft a bed

Three pieces of two different ingredients are required to make a bed with Minecraft.

Wool can be obtained from sheep. You can cut the wool off a sheep with shears to get one to three pieces. Killing a lamb earns one. You can also combine four pieces together of string (usually dropped from spiders) to create one piece.

To use your wool for a bed, all of it must be the same color. Natural spawning can be done with white, gray or brown wool, as well as brown and sometimes pink wool. If you want a different colour, you will need a dyeing agent to mix your wool with.

Logs are made by breaking down trees. Planks can be made by placing logs on a crafting table. Four planks are made from each log.

Once you have three pieces each of wool and three planks, arrange them on your crafting board. Line the three wool pieces together horizontally, and line the three planks together horizontally in the row below.

This will create a bed that matches the color of the wool you used.

What beds are for in Minecraft

Just like in real life, sleeping is incredibly important in Minecraft for a number of reasons.

First, if you go three days in-game without sleeping (or dying), and are outside at nights or in a thunderstorm then frightening creatures called Phantoms may spawn in your sky. They'll slowly swoop down and attack you until you die or go to sleep. Minecraft

Second, your bed is literally your home. Touching a bed (even if you don't sleep in it) sets that bed's location as your spawn point. This means that you will spawn at the bed whenever you die.

Sleeping in a bed at night or during a thunderstorm skips time forward to morning and resets the weather cycle. You don't need to fear the monsters that spawn at night when you've got a safe bed to sleep in.

Finally, when used in The Nether/The End, beds perform a hidden function. If you try to place a bed in either of these dimensions, the bed will immediately explode with force stronger than a block of TNT. If you don't wear armor, there's a good possibility that it will kill your in one hit.

These explosions are often a negative, but if used properly, they can be beneficial. Most Minecraft speedrunners use beds to kill bosses, such as the Ender Dragon, because the explosion also hurts them. It's risky, but extremely fun once you do it.
