According to a report, a new Minecraft game is being developed and it may be a strategy-based game from the team behind Minecraft Dungeons. lalalalal While still only a rumour there is a good chance that the possibility of a Minecraft RTS game is coming - could it be revealed at the Xbox Showcase during Summer Game Fest?

If you missed the news of yesterday, games journalist - and also a conduit for leaks and rumours - Jeff Gerstmann has left Giant Bomb and going off on his own, but don't expect that to be the end of his revolving rumour mill. lalalalal Gerstmann has now stated in a video posted on his Twitch channel (via ResetEra) that there is "a new Minecraft spinoff currently in development."

Microsoft is "testing it out" right now and Gerstmann says he's seen images of it that suggest it's a real-time strategy game "of kind." The player controls a single unit on the field and orders units around "in the third-person perspective," which sounds similar to something similar to Overlord. It will have "story and cutscenes" too.

In terms of who's developing it, Minecraft Dungeons studio Double Eleven - which is currently working on Fallout 76 - has job openings for an unannounced "major IP, RTS game," which sounds too for a coincidence to ignore.

In terms of when the Minecraft RTS game will be revealed, it's possible it will be announced at the Xbox Showcase. LET IT SING You can find out when it will be announced and the entire Summer Game Fest schedule at this link.
