Minecraft Legends Everything We Know About The New Strategy Spinoff

The overworld is morphing again, this time into Minecraft Legends, a new action strategy spinoff for Mojang's main crafting game. Legends is planning to take you on an adventure across the biomes of the overworld, hunting and gathering resources to build your defenses against the invading piglin forces. You will unite old enemies, such as creepers and skeletons, into allies against the Nether’s corruption. You can also have your friends join you in online coop.

Mojang only gave a glimpse of what's in store for you to command your mob armies in Legends, which was revealed at the Xbox Showcase June 20, 222. The trailer clearly reveals that you'll be riding on horseback, looking like a knight in iron armour, a lot. We know everything we know about Minecraft Legends.

Does Minecraft Legends have a release date?

There isn't one. Mojang says Minecraft Legends will launch sometime around 2023. We don’t know much beyond that. What we do know is that Minecraft Legends was revealed during the Xbox Showcase in June 2022, which Microsoft emphasized was focused on games launching within the next 12 months. If all goes according plan, Minecraft Legends could be in the first quarter of 2023.

When it does arrive, we know that Minecraft Legends will launch on PC, consoles, and be included in Xbox Game Pass.

Although this trailer is only a teaser, it shows a lot of Minecraft Legends gameplay. Just Another Wordpress Site The first bits of the trailer are animated cinematic footage, just like Mojang does for other Minecraft reveals or projects.

Minecraft Legends "tells a story about the Overworld uniting against an invasion by ravenous piglins," it states. "According to the legend, only you can bring together the mobs of the Overworld and help them defend their home."

That makes it very clear that the player is riding their horse in front of an army of zombies and creepers. It appears that long-standing enemies are going to band together to kick the piglins into the Nether.

What is the Minecraft Legends gameplay?

Here's Mojang’s statement so far about Legends: "You defend peaceful settlements and fight the hordes or piglins that seek to spread their Nether corruption." You are the center of every battle you lead, fighting alongside your allies while giving them directions."

If you pay attention, you can see a few glimpses of that in the trailer. The player rides a horse and is followed by mob units. They wave a blue flag, making it look like they are calling their army to their place. The player and their mob friends can also be seen fighting a horde piglins, and attacking a grimy Nether fort with its portal at its center.

This is not the same type of crafting and building that you'd find in regular Minecraft, unlike Minecraft Dungeons (opens new tab). Legends has you riding on horseback, leading a mob army, and swinging your sword at piglin enemies.

Dennis Ries, executive producer at Mojang Studios, said in another livestream that "as you explore lush biomes you gather resources and then you use these resources to build defenses."

You can see just a quick look at those player fortifications in the trailer too: a player stands nearby while a large oak log fortress rises into place.

Is there multiplayer in Minecraft Legends? Crossplay?

Yes! Xbox has announced that Minecraft Legends would have competitive multiplayer and co-op. We don’t know any other details about multiplayer.

Crossplay is something we can almost guarantee will be available between Xbox and PC players. Mojang added cross-platform multiplayer for Minecraft Dungeons on PC and all consoles. It is fair to believe that Legends will make that a priority. Feah

Who's developing Minecraft Legends?
